i need you more than i can take...
Hayley Delilah King was born in San Diego, California to a happy, but stressed out mother named MaryAnn and her irritated father Connor King. Connor wanted Hayley to be a boy. She was very much a girl though much to her father's dismay. Hayley lived in San Diego for a brief period of 5 years. Hayley's mother died shortly before the move when her car was hit by a drunk driver when she coming home from the grocery store. Hayley and her father were never close and even though death in the family usually brings a family closer together it just pushed Hayley and her father farther apart. Her father got a job offer shortly after the funeral as a technical analyst for a computer programming agency. Seeing as it was best for his daughter and him to move on they picked up and moved to Las Vegas.

Hayley spent most of her childhood years quiet and working on homework. She was always reading and staring at the sky. She started drawing and painting at this age and realized she had a knack for it. The one time that Hayley made her father smile was when she gave him a painting of a desert rose she had painted herself. She was 12 when this happened. Middle school came and went without much event, then finally high school hit. She'd made a couple friends by then and she was starting to become more friendly and less of a bookworm. She wanted to reinvent herself and look for other things to try; so she signed up for drama and art classes. She made a couple more friends to replace the ones who hadn't come to Chaparral with her. Drama class was starting to pull her even more out of her shell and she realized she loved the stage. She started to audition for plays at school. Hayley graduated high school in 2008 and started going to college at UNLV for Drama.

She realized in her sophomore year of college that she wasn't interested in acting anymore and turned her attention to art since she was always doodling while in between scenes and whatnot at rehearsals and shows for school. She wanted a change of scenery and wanted to see the world. After getting a semester under her belt, she applied to the Chelsea College of Arts to get her BA in Fine Arts. With everything set to go, her father shipped her things to a place called Freedom Place, a little flat community in Kensington not too far from the school. She had ran into her first boyfriend and his friend, and despite the ups and downs the pair of them caused, Hayley pushed through and for that she was rewarded. She met Samuel Whalen through an online conversation and ironically he lived a floor below her. The two had a sort of whirlwind romance until it suddenly crashed and burned. Between Hayley's drug use and the fact that she had cheated on him, the two broke up and Hayley went into rehab because of Sam's pleading and her friend Dallas taking her.

While Hayley was in rehab, Sam kept contact despite the fact that he was starting to develop a drinking problem that was stemming from his inability to sleep. Hayley stayed in rehab for 3 months before getting out. It wasn't long until Sam and Hayley were reconnected and making plans to go see Boston, where Sam was born and raised. However when they got there, they started receiving strange calls in the middle of the night. One evening before a date to take Hayley to her first opera, The Turn of the Screw, he took Hayley to a park by the opera house and told her everything about his past. Turns out Sam, despite his nerdy exterior, was actually on the run from the Irish mob. His father screwed over a lot of people, and when he went to jail, to avoid being found, Sam and his sister Eryn, were put on a plane to England and set up for a life in hiding. Hayley had a tough time trying to swallow it but she didn't care about his history, because she loved him for who he was.

That Christmas, while they were vacationing in Ireland to see Sam's mother and sister, Sam proposed to Hayley. On June 19, 2011, Hayley and Sam were married in Belfast Ireland. Hayley graduated from school before going back for her MA degree in Fine Arts. Sam and Hayley eventually got a house off Westminster Bridge Road in London. Married life for the Whalen's was simple. They would spend summers in Belfast, and then during school time they'd be at the house. Sam continued to work from home for his own company. Hayley eventually got a job as a conservationist for textiles and fashion at The Victoria & Albert Museum.

Hayley was on top of the world, she had the man she loved and a place of their own. She had all she wanted. Then she found out the most wonderful news. She was going to be expecting a baby. Sam was delighted, as he had always wanted a family of his own. Hayley was excited to start the new journey in her life. The pregnancy had it's ups and downs but for the most part it was easy.

On September 21, 2013, on Sam's 34th birthday, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Fiona Eryn Whalen. It was the second best day of Hayley's life. Hayley's world shifted and her life was now enveloped in taking care of Fiona and loving her husband. The next year was pure bliss for the small family. Hayley and Sam were even talking of having another baby. Then on November 5, 2014, during a visit to see Sam's mother, some of the mobsters that Sam and his family were trying to get away from, caught up with them. Sam, Hayley, and Fiona were out shopping for dinner that night for the family and shots were fired at the family. Sam jumped in front of Hayley who was holding Fiona. He landed on the ground and Hayley screamed. The guys who fired the shots drove away without looking back. A gentleman helped Hayley and got her and Fiona safely to the hospital that Sam was being taken to. Sam was in critical condition. Molly, Sam's mother, was taking care of Fiona so that Hayley could stay by Sam's side. Those days were a blur because Hayley barely slept or ate, she just sat by Sam's bed hoping he'd wake up and come back to her.

At 12:45pm on November 10, 2014, Hayley's worst nightmare had come true. Sam, her husband and love of her life passed away. Automatically Hayley's world and Hayley dropped and shattered on the ground. Hayley had passed out from low blood sugar from her hypoglycemia. She came to 12 hours later and her heart broke all over again. She knew she had to be strong for Fiona but Hayley had dipped into a deep depression. The funeral was a blur, she was consoled by Molly and Eryn, who helped out with Fiona. After staying with her mother-in-law for 2 months, Hayley moved back into the house Sam and her owned. Seeing the pictures and the trinkets of theirs stirred up memories and drove Hayley into a deeper depression. Eventually Eryn came out to live with Hayley to care for Fiona while Hayley drifted between work and drinking at the pubs til closing. Hayley is still trying to pick up the pieces and get out of her depression for her daughter and for Sam.
